Annual FrankenGun Challenge Call for Entries
It’s time for our Annual Small Arms Review FrankenGun Challenge! We at Small Arms Review encourage our readers to submit their most creative contraptions. Much like our fabled “MacWaffle” contest, where readers had to make a working waffle iron out of MAC flats, this challenge is all about having some fun.
A “FrankenGun” is just what it sounds like—a cross between Frankenstein’s monster and a gun, in this case a semi auto or a machine gun. The phrase goes back to the early internet days when legal machine gun owners would cross-pollinate weapon designs using parts, and sometimes movie voodoo-type add-ons, to create something that fit their idea of a fun gun.
RULES
Please make sure your completed FrankenGun is legal! Illegal entries will be disqualified. Gun used can be a semi auto or a machine gun. Entries must be submitted by the deadline below in order to be considered.
ENTRY GUIDELINES
To submit your entry, email your complete entry to editorial@chipotlepublishing.com by September 30, 2022. Entries must include the following:
- Your name, email and phone number
- An article describing what parts you used to make your FrankenGun, your processes, the ammo the gun uses and a description of the gun’s shooting results. Article should be between 600 and 1,000 words in length. Include the name of your FrankenGun—if it has one.
- A minimum of three high-resolution photos (at least 300dpi) and brief captions for each photo
VOTING
FrankenGun entries will appear on www.SmallArmsReview.com and on our social media, along with voting instructions and deadline. Our readers may then vote for their favorite FrankenGun, and the entry with the most votes wins!
WINNERS
After final votes are tallied, the winner will be notified via email or phone call on or around October 25, 2022. The winner will then be announced on the Small Arms Review website and social media. The winner will then receive a Small Arms Review T-Rex T-Shirt, a Small Arms Review coffee mug and a book of their choosing from our Chipotle Publishing online store. A frameable RKI Certificate will be provided for those who submitted an entry.
