As posted on it’s website, Windham Weaponry will stop taking orders tonight as it prepares to imminently cease operations. The company began operations 12 years ago when it was formed from what remained of Bushmaster’s headquarters in Maine. Then-parent company Remington moved Bushmaster from Maine to it’s New York location, leaving a good chunk of talent and resources to start Windham Weaponry in its stead.

Here is Windham Weaponry’s statement as seen September 12, 2023:

It is with deep regret that we announce the closing of Windham Weaponry. Our website/online retail ordering system will remain active through Tuesday night, Sept 12. We will do our best to ship all orders this week and early next week. No credit card will be charged until the order is shipped.

Twelve years ago, when we started Windham Weaponry, our shareholders and longtime employees were excited to continue the traditions and spirit of Bushmaster Firearms, after the new owners decided to leave Maine.

We built WW into a company we could be proud of providing outstanding customer service, high quality products, as well as a great place for our dedicated employees to work.

The last few years have been a very challenging time for the firearms industry, and we have struggled to keep the WW dream alive for as long as possible. Unfortunately, we have not been able to meet our loan obligations with the bank after they worked with us as much as they could.

There was a glimmer of hope when we were negotiating with an investor to help keep WW alive and healthy, but that just fell through.

We have begun discussions with Keenan Auction Company to determine the best course of action for a full liquidation which should happen within the next month or so.

Our shareholders and employees truly appreciate your loyal support all of these years.

Multitasker, specialty makers of weaponcentric multitools, is proud to release the Gen3 Mag Pod monopod baseplate compatible with the Gen M3 PMAG from Magpul Industries Corp.

The Mag Pod simply replaces the stock PMAG baseplate and offers enhanced stability when using the magazine for prone support. Mag Pod’s signature “forward bias” geometry features a wide, stable point of contact at the forward edge of the PMAG, instead of relying on balancing the mag on the back edge to stabilize the rifle, and works effectively regardless if the shooting surface is perfectly level. An overmolded Thermo Plastic Elastomer (TPE) basepad provides improved traction on hard/slick surfaces.

The Gen3 Mag Pod’s distinctive arched back includes a dedicated docking slot for Multitasker’s NANO/NANO2 micro size optic tools (both sold separately), which are secured via a patent pending detent locking system that is disengaged by using the 5.56 bullet to push the tool out. This built-in slot offers a low-cost secure mounting option for those who wish to have their NANO tool(s) present on a primary mag.

Mag Pod’s shape also facilitates predictable reloads by giving the user an extended forward section to grip the magazine and the rear feet have been contoured to work better with securing bungee retaining tabs when inserted into certain mag pouches. And unlike bipods that add additional weight and bulk to the front of the handguard, interfering with lead hand placement, Mag Pod is a rugged 1-pc design that requires no manipulation before use and adds virtually no additional weight or footprint. Best of all, it is intuitive to use, even for novice shooters.

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. is pleased to announce the latest addition to its modern sporting rifle lineup, the Small-Frame Autoloading Rifle, or SFAR. Chambered in 7.62 NATO / .308 Win., the SFAR combines the ballistic advantages of .308 Winchester with the size of a traditional MSR. The smaller of the two initial configurations of this rifle features a 16-inch barrel and weighs in at just 6.8 pounds unloaded. By using superior materials and engineering, the SFAR is bigger and stronger where it needs to be and remains smaller and lighter than comparable .308-sized rifles.

Ruger SFAR Model 5610

Using many mil-spec-compatible components and fitted with the Ruger Elite 452 trigger, the construction and operation of the Ruger SFAR will be familiar to the millions of Americans who have already adopted traditional modern sporting rifles. The upper and lower receivers are both CNC-machined from 7075-T6 forgings and feature an oversized magazine well, forward assist, dust cover and brass deflector. Barrels are cold hammer-forged with 5R rifling, a 5/8″-24 muzzle thread, and finished with black nitride for accuracy, longevity and easy cleaning. CNC-machined from high-strength super alloy steel, the bolt and barrel extension feature tapered lugs that strengthen the breech by adding material in key areas.

“Over the course of this rifle’s development, we fired hundreds of thousands of rounds to assess and enhance real-world performance and wear,” noted Ben Parker, the lead design engineer for SFAR. “The proprietary design and material selection of the bolt and barrel extension help deliver a rugged, reliable, and safe rifle that we are proud to call a Ruger.”

Ruger SFAR Model 5611

SFAR rifles are fitted with a 4-position regulated gas block to achieve ideal function across the wide range of ammunition available in the marketplace today, whether running the rifle dirty or clean, suppressed or unsuppressed. The included, on-board 3/16-inch ball-end wrench makes for easy regulator adjustment, while the 2-port Boomer muzzle brake makes the SFAR exceptionally soft shooting.

The handguard features Magpul M-LOK accessory attachment slots at the 3:00, 6:00, and 9:00 positions and sockets for QD sling swivels on both sides. Model 5610 features a 16-inch barrel, a mid-length gas system and a 15-inch Lite free-float handguard whose top rail has been docked in the middle for improved grip access and lighter weight. Model 5611 has a 20-inch barrel, a rifle-length gas system and a 15-inch handguard with a full Picatinny top rail. Both models feature Magpul MOE SL stock, MOE grip and ship with one, 20-round Magpul PMAG magazine.
