“John Paul” founded JP Enterprises in 1991 after 13 years of running a specialty store and gunsmithing business. Since then, he, and later his son, have created progressively more refined variants of AR-15 and AR-10 designs. Since 1955, these two Stoner rifles have undergone numerous refinements. The most visible of these is the relocation of the charging handle from inside the “carry handle” to the back of the receiver. That change enabled easier installation of optics and also kept the charging handle cool during sustained fire. Other improvements included free-floating forends, better triggers, and more robust stocks. It took JP’s genius to get the AR-10/15 platform to where it performs accurately and comfortably with sound suppressors.

Variable mass (VMOS) bolt allows gross cycle adjustments with the steel and tungsten components.

As a military weapon designed to work in stock configuration, M16s and AR-10s perform quite well. However, JP modifications resulted in significantly more useful rifles for individuals interested in suppression without over gassing, extreme accuracy, or effectively functioning with unconventional ammunition. The JP LRI-20 features the time-proven LRP-07 (Long Range Precision) lower, with LRI (Long Range Integral) upper. The word “Integral” in the LRI-20 name refers to the improved forend mounting system that promotes precise, rigid alignment with the receiver.

The most obvious difference between a JP rifle and a standard AR-15 is the large, folding side charging handle. The standard AR-15 is difficult to use in the event of a stuck casing, providing insufficient surface area for the fingers to grasp. The JP handle, which is much wider than those of other side-chargers, provides a whole-hand grip and allows charging without breaking the cheek-weld. Its forward location makes for a more natural motion than the rear-placed standard part. From this change comes another advantage: the back of the receiver is completely enclosed. Any smoke or gas that ends up in the receiver comes out through the ejection port, not through the charging handle opening right by the shooter’s eyes. Any gas that might try to escape from the side-charging handle slot is thoughtfully blocked with a sliding cover.

The muzzle brake and compensator is effective without undue concussion. Muzzle flash gets channeled to the side, out of shooter’s line of sight.

Fortunately, over-gassing due to back-pressure from a sound suppressor or an aggressive muzzle brake is not a problem for JP rifles. The LRI-20 upper has an adjustable gas block that is operable with a simple hex wrench. While it doesn’t have markings for repeatable positions, an indicator line is easy to add, and the port is accessible without dismounting the forend. John Paul recommends using gas adjustments for small-scale tuning, especially for target shooting. For major changes or rough field use, he advises swapping the bolt and buffer weights.

This is where another useful feature comes in. The rifles are available with low, standard, and variable mass bolt carriers. The mass of variable carriers can be fine-tuned with steel or tungsten weights. The heaviest configuration slows down the bolt opening just enough to drop the gas pressure in suppressed configurations to ensure a clean cycle. The lightest aluminum carriers are paired up with low-mass titanium firing pins to reduce the amount of reciprocating weight in competition rifles. My sample rifle had a variable-weight carrier configured with two tungsten weights, and one steel weight for suppressed use. It also included the JP Silent Captured Spring, a required replacement of the standard AR spring and buffer. Precision-centered and polished, this combo also permits fine-tuning with steel and tungsten weights. The same part can be configured with weights and a spacer to work in an AR-10, AR-15, or a 9mm blowback rifle. Unlike Stoner’s original buffer with its characteristic “boing”, JP rifle buffers remain silent during the cycle.

Wide folding charging handle makes for easy extraction of unfired cartridges, also makes it easy to get a defective casing out if it gets stuck.

This isn’t the first time I’ve used JP rifles. I’ve shot the .308 LRP-07 in 2010, and the .223 SCR-11 Rifle the following year. Setting up the LRI-20 was very straightforward: the gas required no adjustment, and zeroing with the 6-24 Meopta scope took only eight rounds of 168gr Federal Gold Medal Match. While any quality ammunition can be used to good effect, that is the recommended load. With the standard two-port muzzle brake and compensator, the .308 rifle’s recoil was reduced to sub-.223 level and muzzle rise eliminated, permitting spotting of shots through the scope at one hundred yards.

Unlike dedicated sporting guns, this rifle retains the forward assist and the dust cover. The extensively ventilated 17.5-inch forend is coupled with the nut integrated into the receiver for best stability. With the front rail attachment very near the muzzle, it gives the best possible stability on an Atlas bipod. The distance between the buttstock and the bipod is maximized, translating any rear movement into a smaller angular change for more precise aiming. For a higher volume of fire, a finned aluminum radiator can be added to the barrel. The standard JP MK III Handguard System uses 10-32 screws for adding rails and other accessories where needed, leaving the surface streamlined for easy handling.

JP LRI-20 rifle configured for use.

The JP LRI-20 features a 20-inch barrel that is air-gauged and cryogenically treated for utmost consistency even when hot. 0.5 MOA is guaranteed: and I’ve seen results in the one-third MOA range with factory match ammunition. Its trigger weighs in at 3.6 lbs., but it feels significantly lighter thanks to the crisp break. Felt recoil is mild, the break is not concussive, and muzzle-rise is minimal as to permit spotting your own shots at 100 yards. In other words, I had almost the same experience with the LRI-20 as I did with the .223 SCR-11 Rifle, just while making bigger splashes on steel downrange.

A thread-on Thunder Beast Arms Corporation titanium sound suppressor reduced the noise considerably while keeping the recoil about the same as with the brake. My point of impact shifted about 2MOA between the brake and the muffler, but accuracy was unchanged. Blowback while shooting suppressed was minimal, and no blowback at all was perceived once the gas port was closed by half of a turn. The enclosed back of the receiver is perfect for use with silencers.

1:11in barrel twist supports bullet weights up to 200 grains, making this rifle very suitable for suppressed use. Gas adjustment screw is visible on the top left of the gas block.

My experiences with all four JP Rifles so far have proven them to be 100% reliable with or without the can; and I did not experience a single failure of any kind. With Federal Gold Match 168gr open tip bullets, the spread was around 0.5 MOA, as advertised. The same results were obtained with Hornady 168gr match and PRIME 175gr match. Plain 150gr plinking FMJ shot 1.5 MOA. Magtech 168gr match achieved 1.3MOA, same as Federal Fusion Soft Point.

The LRI-20 is also available in 6mm and 6.5mmCreedmoor, as well as 260 Remington calibers. In my experience, 6.5 Creedmoor edged out the .308 for accuracy at 0.3 MOA with factory Hornady and Federal Match ammunition. John Paul recommends handloading to the specific rifle for consistent groups at 0.5 MOA, and he has produced several informative videos on turning the gas system and the handloads to each other (see them at youtube.com/user/JPRifles). At my shooting skill level, I will take the 0.5MOA dispersion with the comfortable ergonomics and mild recoil and apply my time to learning how to calculate dope and wind better.

The JP LRI-20 rifle with PRS stock, the scope, a sling, a full magazine, and the Atlas bipod weighs around 14.5 pounds. For more on the JP LRI-20, please visit JP Enterprises.

Aimpoint red dot sights are operationally parallax-free, which means the visible dot remains parallel to the bore of your weapon no matter what angle your eye is in relation to the sight. Therefore, the user never has to worry about centering the dot inside the sight. If you have a proper zero, when the dot is on the target, so are you. Aimpoint red dot sights increase confidence by allowing the shooter to focus on the target while keeping both eyes open, fully situationally aware at all times.
Squeeze even more accuracy from the industry’s safest micro rimfire. The Rascal FV-SR delivers pint-size precision thanks to a heavy bar-rel with a threaded (1/2-28) muzzle. Like the original Rascal, the single-shot rifle cocks by lifting the bolt and unloads easily—without pulling the trigger. The design also builds superior shooting skills thanks to full-size rifle features, including a tough synthetic stock and Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger system. Other features include: manual safety; feed & ear plugs; and tactical bolt handle. savagearms.com

Streamlight Inc., announced a new enhanced, dual-fuel version tactical flashlight. The new PolyTac X features 600 lumens and offers the versatility of a rechargeable battery option.

The light can be powered by either two 3-volt CR123 lithium batteries or one Streamlight rechargeable 18650 lithium ion battery that can recharge either one or two batteries simultaneously and permits charging through either AC/DC or USB power sources. This multi-battery option allows for use of primary disposable batteries if the rechargeable cell is out of power.

The PolyTac X uses a power LED to provide three lighting modes: high, medium, low and strobe. Regardless of battery source, the light delivers 600 lumens on high, 11,485 candela and a 205-meter beam distance, which is enough to provide critical lighting for a range of tactical uses. The light’s TEN-TAP programmable push-button switch allows users to select from three programs: high/strobe/low (factory default); high only or low/medium/high.

The lightweight PolyTac X is exceptionally durable, featuring a case made of high impact super tough nylon polymer that also provides a sure grip. The new light features an IPX7-rated design, providing waterproof operation to 1 meter for 30 minutes and is impact-resistant tested to 3 meters. The light measures 5.46 inches and is available in black, yellow, or coyote. streamlight.com?

POF-USA REVOLUTION (7.62 NATO)

POF Revolution 7.62 NATO

Brand new from POF-USA is a .308 battle rifle that handles like a 5.56, because it’s the same size and weight as one. This isn’t a stripped down rifle that’s saving weight by making extra cuts or lacking the battle rifle features you’re accustomed to. The Revolution actually uses many 5.56 AR parts which allows for a shorter overall receiver size and reduced weight. The Revolution receiver size, from pin to pin, shares the same dimensions as an AR-15.

This is NOT a small frame .308, it’s smaller! The Revolution features many 5.56 parts; such as charging handle, bolt carrier, roller cam pin, buffer, heat-sink barrel nut, handguard and 5-position gas piston operating system. The barrel extension, bolt assembly, upper and lower receiver are the exact same size as those on an AR15. This is truly an AR15 that shoots in .308!

Weighing in at 7.3 lbs the Revolution features POF-USA’s new Edge Handguard with four built-in QD mounts. It’s loaded with features such as a fully ambidextrous billet receiver set, NP3 coated bolt carrier group, 5-position adjustable gas piston, single stage match grade trigger and more. You may have just found your “one gun.” MSRP: $2669.99.

ACCURACY SOLUTIONS BIPODEXt

Accuracy Solutions BipodeXt

With BipodeXt you will have a rifle shooting experience unlike anything before. This revolutionary new product provides shooters with unmatched stability and accuracy.

To understand the principles behind the design of BipodeXt it helps to visualize a rifle as a lever and its bipod as the fulcrum on which the lever rests. While BipodeXt is not utilized to lift weights an analogy from the lever/fulcrum axiom can still be drawn. As for the lever, the closer the fulcrum is to either end of the lever, the more leverage the user obtains. As for BipodeXt, the further out the bipod is placed the more stable the sighting down the rifle’s scope becomes.

Some BipodeXt models, such as the BXT 40X3, provide for a bipod’s resting point to be placed beyond the muzzle of most rifles, thus further minimizing movement through the rifle and impressively reducing reticle drift. BipodeXt can be extended and retracted giving the shooter a highly adjustable and customizable resting point. Due to its round design BipodeXt can quickly correct canting by simply operating its clamp’s lever. This also allows for an unprecedented 360 degrees rotation of the bipod in relation to the rifle. Most models weigh approximately 1lb.

Hogue Laser-Enhanced Grips

Hogue Laser-Enhanced Grips

Hogue, Inc. is proud to announce the newest additions to their growing line of Laser-Enhanced (LE) Grips. Revolver grips for Smith & Wesson’s round butt K/L and J Frames are now in stock. “For years our customers have been asking for Hogue Grips with lasers,” said LE Grip designer and managing partner Jim Bruhns. “We have expanded our line of Hogue LE Grips to include models for Smith & Wesson K, L and J Frame owners in direct response to customer demand.”

Hogue’s LE Grips are the first handgun laser sighting system on the market based on a fully programmable, digitally controlled microprocessor circuit. Hogue’s designers capitalized on the advantage by programming three operating modes (steady, flashing or stealth target) and four laser brightness levels into the LE Grip’s circuit. They also tapped into sophisticated power management routines to ensure long life from two common CR- 2032 batteries hidden under the grip on the non-laser side–an important design feature enabling battery changes that won’t take the laser out of zero. Each LE Grip is bore-sighted at the factory while fine windage and elevation adjustments are accessible via small set screws. All of the Hogue LE Grip’s programming features are accessible via pressure-sensitive programming buttons.

The Hogue LE Grips for S&W revolvers are truly unique; the company’s engineers embedded the system’s 630-670nm

Hogue LE Grips are manufactured in their family-owned and operated USA facilities under the direct supervision of the Hogue family.

Hogue HandALL Beavertail Grip Sleeves

Hogue HandALL Beavertail Grip Sleeves

The new grip sleeves are designed to fit specific polymer pistols now on the market. “Polymer pistols do not have removable grips that you can simply replace,” said grip designer Matt Hogue. “The solution for many of these pistols is our new HandALL Beavertail Grip Sleeves.”

The Beavertail Grip Sleeve line has been engineered with models for precision fits on specific firearms. The initial offerings in this series have sleeves designed for perfect fits on three sizes of polymer firearms. The first offering precisely fits Smith & Wesson’s M&P 9mm and 40 Shield and Ruger’s LC9. The second sleeve fits Glock’s 42 and 43. The final sleeve is designed for Smith & Wesson’s M&P 45 Shield and Kahr Arms’ P9, P40, CW9 and CW40. While each sleeve has been created for a precise fit on specific polymer framed firearms, they also alternatively fit many other similarly sized firearms with a fully functional and aesthetic fit. “These sleeves also provide a very nice fit for many pistols that may not have any other alternative available on the market,” said Hogue.

The Beavertail Grip Sleeves are installed by slipping them over the frame of the firearm until seated into perfect position. Once installed, the HandALL sleeve provides a single finger groove for instinctive handling of the firearm. The finger groove leads into a gentle palm swell that has been carefully designed to fit naturally in the hand. The beavertail built into the grip sleeve rises high along the back strap of the frame giving full rubber contact with the hand allowing a higher hand-placement on the grip without the fear of the slide biting the skin between the thumb and the trigger finger. In addition to protection and comfort, the beavertail also cushions the hand during recoil.

The HandALL is built from a long-lasting durablethermo plastic elastomer compound. This rubber ages very gracefully and keeps a firm, tacky feel throughout the life of the grip. It will not harden, split or crack with age or usage. The grip sleeve is textured with Hogue’s familiar Cobblestone texture, a series of small circular bumps that provide an efficient non-slip, non-irritating grip on the rubber. Hogue’s HandALL Beavertail Grips Sleeves have an MSRP of $9.95 for black and $10.95 for OD green, flat dark Earth, pink and purple.

Hogue grip sleeves are manufactured in their family-owned and operated facilities under the direct supervision of the Hogue family.

Hogue, Inc. supports local dealers and encourages customers to purchase Hogue products locally.
Since the release of our original JP Tension Pin almost 20 years ago, sloppy receiver fit has been a JP obsession. The new Microfit™ Takedown Pins offer are a tool-less solution to this problem with a premium polished appearance. Oversized pins reduce the slop in overly loose receivers that can reduce rifle accuracy. Undersized pins provide easier takedown for tight receivers such as those with heavy Cerakote buildup.

Microfit Takedown Pins are available individually or in standard, oversized, and undersized sets and now come standard in all JP rifles.

Even in the same caliber, the ammo requirements between bolt guns and self-loaders are stark. JP Semi-Auto Case Gauges are the first gauges to acknowledge and account for the more particular ammo preferences of the semi-auto platforms. The gauges guaranty function in any self-loading rifle by verifying that every cartridge will fire to a minimumdepth SAAMI chamber. So, if it fits, it shoots.

Semi-Auto Case Gauges are available in .223 and .308 with more caliber offerings coming soon.

Nikon doubles down on its commitment to American shooters with the introduction of the new BLACK riflescope series—a new category of dedicated optics with models engineered for both precision longrange rifle and action-shooting AR enthusiasts.

For the precision rifle shooter, Nikon’s BLACK X1000 is offered in a range of 4-16×50 and 6-24×50 models with X-MRAD or X-MOA tactical style reticles synchronized to elevated windage and elevation turrets. Accurate and repeatable, the adjustments enable precise dialing of elevation come ups and wind compensation, while each of the new reticle designs present the shooter with a visually clean, yet highly functional and advanced tool for estimating range or maintaining holdovers.

Shooters looking for rapid-action targeting capability with AR/MSR platforms can rely on the new BLACK FORCE1000 1-4×24 riflescope with capped turrets and SpeedForce reticle. When the riflescope is dialed down to its true 1x magnification, the reticle’s illuminated double horseshoe center portion serves as quick reference for reaction-speed target acquisition and engagement, as well as for establishing moving target leads. The SpeedForce MOA reticle also integrates BDC circles and hash marks for precise intermediate-range target holdovers.

By Jay Bell

Several months ago, I received word from Ernest Wrenn, owner of Socom Mfg., a Class 2/3 dealer and manufacturer located in North Augusta, South Carolina, that he was planning on releasing a run of CNC machined billet aluminum AR-15™ style receivers with “SPECIAL” features. “This has been done ages ago…” I thought, thinking about the older models that I had seen, the ones that had been milled out of bar stock. Knowing the prices that some other manufacturers sell billet receivers for, I wondered what would be so good about this latest incarnation of the AR-15™ to justify the imagined cost. So, on an impulse, I asked that Ernie keep me in mind when the product was finished, as I would be interested in looking one over for purchase.

In the meanwhile I received regular updates from Ernie with some pictures showing various stages of the production…I could see a lot of unusually shaped bare aluminum, but no real features as of yet. Then, one day, the receiver arrived.” WOW! WHAT A SHOCK!!!!!”

The “DIAMOND BR-15™” series AR-15™ type receiver is machined from what started out as a 7lb. brick of forged T-6 Aircraft aluminum alloy. Since this was initially a project in design, the billet route was chosen for two specific reasons: strength, and the fact that there were no raw forgings available that would enable the designer to include all the features he wanted.

For strength, billet is an excellent choice. The material is denser due to the forging process, lending it better strength than a casting of the same size, and also avoiding the weakening inclusions that castings can sometimes contain.

Also, the billet was an excellent choice if the maker wanted to expand on the proportions of the A-2 reinforcements, and add the other custom features they desire.

The first thing that struck me was the finish. The first sample I received was silver anodized, not quite matte, but more of a satin finish, similar in look to satin hard chrome. Since I prefer to keep “The Black Rifle” black, I promptly asked Ernie to ship a black anodized receiver to me, which he did, and I made a shooting buddys day by passing the silver receiver to him for purchase. On a quick inspection, both receivers seemed identical, aside from the finish, even down to the exact same tooling marks in the exact same places. After passing through the NICS check system at my FFLs shop, and taking the black stripped receiver home, I was finally able to make a complete examination of the lower.

I noted how much heavier the receiver seemed than a standard A2 lower from Colt or Bushmaster, and how clean and sharp the markings and lines of the receiver were, especially the edges, which are all beveled and sculpted. On the left side of the receiver was a large “diamond” logo and the serial number, on the right side was the manufacturer markings, model designation, and caliber designation.

All the machining and engraving was done on a 5-axis CNC mill, Not only does that ensure that there are no hidden fractures from roll stamping, but it also ensures that all the sides are machined fully parallel to the other, there are no off center or angled surfaces that are not designed that way.

I also noted other features that were rather unusual: 1: All the takedown pin areas were highly reinforced. 2:The rear of the receiver contains a recessed jackscrew that will press against the upper receivers rear lug, and is used to take the wobble or slack out of the upper/lower receiver fit. 3:The receiver sides are easily twice as thick as a standard A2 lower receiver is. This thickness means more stiffness to resist twist or deformation. 4:The lower contains adjustment screws for both trigger reset and trigger stop, accessible through the trigger-guard, which is a solid piece of the lower receiver. 5: The magazine release area is heavily fenced in. 6: All the detent holes seemed to be tapped, except for the one at the front takedown pin. 7: The magazine well has no “taper”, but is instead parallel to the top of the receiver. 8: Fire control markings are on both sides of the receiver in large, easily readable engraved letters: “FIRE” and “SAFE” 9: Included with the receiver was a short list of instructions, some grub screws for the capture pin areas, and a short Inconell pin for the bolt hold-open.

Since I hadn’t really expected the delivery of the receiver so soon, I was caught empty handed: no lower receiver parts kit! Ernie had said that this would take current mil-spec “small pin” fire-control parts, I made a quick order to Bushmaster Firearms for a lower completion kit. When the kit arrived several days later, I sat down at the workbench and got busy installing.

True to claims, the semi-auto fire control parts fit into the lower receiver with no problem whatsoever. A longer pin for the hammer would be nice for aesthetic reasons; the receiver is thick, and the pin is inset a tiny bit on both sides. The bolt hold-open was also tapped, which meant that no punches were needed, and no rollpin to install. Just insert the bolt hold-open assembly, insert the pin, and tighten the screw down (too easy).

The rear takedown pin detent hole was also tapped, and the instructions said that the spring must be shortened to accommodate the capture screw. I took off several coils until I had a good pressure fit, and tightened that screw down. No more lost or bent up springs when switching butt-stocks! Anybody that has switched a stock out has chased these things around… INCOMING!!

After I had fully assembled the lower with a Choate “Hook Style” butt-stock and a standard A2 pistolgrip, I started looking at the instructions for the trigger adjustment. Now, adjustable match triggers are a bit pricey, as we all know, but this lower has the feature built right in, just use your standard trigger. The adjustment consists of a pair of screws that are in the bottom of the receiver. These screws can be tightened or loosened to press against the front and rear of the bottom of the trigger to adjust the length of creep, and the trigger reset distance. The instructions give some rather pointed cautions about adjusting the trigger properly. Adjusted too closely, the shooter may experience some “hammer follow” or “doubling” due to improper adjustment, basically , the disconnector could be interfered with. I personally adjusted mine to what felt like a standard AR pull and release, leaving final adjustments to the trigger for a trip to the range.

Now, since this is a post-ban receiver, none of the other current uppers that I own would’ve been legal for installation since they are in pre-ban configuration, so out come the parts boxes (and the credit card for more parts orders!)

Close-up of receiver markings.

I ordered and received a DPMS™ “Hi-Rise” upper from Tom Liemohn (Total Silence MFG, in WA.) This one I chose as a fitting complement, as the upper is very thick and rigid, and includes the proper height riser built in for mounting a telescopic sight.

In addition, this upper is “slickside”, it has no forward assist or brass deflector, which is no problem for me, since I’m a right handed shooter, and adds to the clean lines of the rifle.

Also for the upper, I purchased an aluminum free-float handguard, a JP Enterprises adjustable gas-block, and a JP Enterprises single chamber “Recoil Eliminator” brake. The brake is blind pinned and welded to permanently cover the threads on the barrel, making the rifle comply with the ’94 AW ban. All of this was wrapped around a 1/7 twist Colt™ heavy barrel that was a takeoff from another rifle. I topped the whole thing off with glass from Springfield Armory, a 4-14×40 Tactical Government Model™ with the 5.56 range-finding reticle.

After I assembled the upper fully, I mounted it to the lower, expecting some fitting issues due to the different manufacturers. There were no tightness problems, the takedown pins lined up properly and required no undue force to insert. There was a very slight bit of play between the upper and the lower receivers, and here’s where the upper/lower fit screw comes in handy. Since uppers and lowers from the same manufacturer can sometimes fit poorly, one common recourse to this problem is the “Accuwedge”, the little rubber plug that went under the rear lug of the upper receiver to eliminate play. With this lower, you close the receiver halves, insert the pin, and start tightening the adjustment screw that is found at the rear of the receiver, above the pistolgrip. The interior end of this screw is flat, and pushes against the rear edge of the upper receivers mounting lug, forcing it tight against the takedown pin, completely eliminating ALL upper receiver play, and the associated rattle and instability.

Now it was time for a trip to the range! The first thing here was to set the JP gas block system for best functioning, this was easily accomplished, and only required a couple of shots. After that, I started fooling with the trigger adjustments. This was also easy, as the adjustment screws are accessible through the bottom of the trigger guard, no need to open the upper to adjust from the top. After several adjustments, I deliberately tried to “over adjust” the trigger to cause a malfunction. In the one extreme I got hammer follow, no doubling at all. In another case, I over adjusted the other way, and could not fire the rifle. At optimum, I currently have the trigger set to about 1/4” of creep before let-off. In rapid-fire, this lets you achieve a rather easy and startlingly fast rate of fire.

The only difficulty I noticed was that some mil-spec magazines seemed a bit tight in the lower, and were a little difficult to insert or remove from the magazine well, and would not eject fully on their own. On speaking to Ernie about this, he had also seen this, and has corrected this in all further runs of this receiver. He had kept the magwell measurement on the conservative side, and it seems some G.I. magazines have size variances in spec within government contract limits. I have noted this in my Eagle Arms manufactured rifle also, some magazines are just a little bit tighter than others.

All in all, I feel that this receiver offers the best deal out there as a base for either competition, casual target shooting, varmint hunting, or a great foundation for a post-sample M/16 in heavy pistol calibers that would normally batter a receiver.

One interesting thing is that the “DIAMOND SERIES” receiver rifle REALLY GETS ATTENTION!!!! While at the range I was asked many times “What kind of rifle is that?”…”Who makes that rifle?”…. and from one guy who drove a hot-rodded Chevy Nomad…”Is that a BILLET rifle? Cooool!” So the rifle does not only FILL the looks department, but also the quality department. As an added note, on my personal receiver, I filled all the lettering on my receiver with white paint, to accent the markings. It sure stands out nicely!

So, how much will this lower cost? Not as much as you may think! Retail cost for the first run orders is $295, and the price will increase to $350 for any subsequent run of receivers, and dealer pricing is available. Quite a deal since you figure that the average postban A-2 lower is about $110-200 without any of the other features. Also, the receivers are available in black, green, blue, red, gold, and silver anodizing. Silver or Black is the standard offering, the other colors are available for a $25 extra fee. The Diamond lower receiver is also available in Post-Dealer Sample M/16 configuration for a $25 extra fee. Matching billet upper receivers are “in the planning stage”, and entire assembled rifles are also offered.
