As part of the archives at LMO, there are numerous photo albums from pre-WWII and WWII Japanese machine gunners, as well as photo albums from WWI, Interwar, and WWII German machine gunners. These men kept these photo diaries of their exploits, travels, training, friends, family, and interesting locations. We’ve purchased these whenever we could find them, and now, it’s time to share them.
This first album we are putting up, we have no translations for. It is a Japanese Machine Gunner’s album, and he used the Type 11 Machine Gun as well as the Type 92 Machine Gun. There is a photo of a very rare tripod for the Type 11. If someone fluent in Japanese characters cares to translate this text, perhaps they’d like to translate this for us, and we’ll give them a free subscription to www.SmallArmsReview.com online. What we would like to see, if it’s translated, is to have it online so the search engines bot it, and hopefully someday the man’s family, or other members of his unit, will see it, and then they can digitally have their history back. We plan on continuing to put these on our site, so watch for more historical albums!
